Justin Bieber Gave Greyson Chance Advice

Greyson Chance says he's become "good friends" with the Biebz.

The 13-year-old, who releases debut album Hold On 'Til the Night next month, has met with Justin Bieber a few times and got advice from the Never Say Never star.

"Justin's an amazing guy," he said. "I've met him a couple times and he's a good friend.
"But [our music] is very different," Greyson told the Hollywood Reporter. "He told me to stick to my family and stick to God. Very good words to live by."

The Unfriend You singer - who rose to fame after covering Lady Gaga on his YouTube channel - also revealed what the best parts of being a signed recording artist are.

"I think my favorite moment has been just simply touring," he said. "I love being on the road and being able to see how the hard work in the studio really pays off. Just being able to shake hands with the fans, it means a lot."

Greyson Chance to be part of bigger fireworks show

Rising singing star Greyson Chance and a longer fireworks show will be on tap for Independence Day in Edmond.

LibertyFest’s fireworks show is scheduled to begin at about 10 p.m. Monday at the University of Central Oklahoma campus, 100 N. University Drive. Seating will be available throughout the UCO campus, but not inside Wantland Stadium.

KCSC radio FM 90.1 will air synchronized music to accompany the show produced by Extreme Pyrotechnics.

Chance, of Edmond, whose name recognition skyrocketed when a video of him singing his heart out at a choir event was viewed by more than 28 million people on YouTube, recorded the introduction. Extreme Pyrotechnics Vice President Levi Clark said Chance is part of an effort to create a more contemporary soundtrack for the show.

Extreme Pyrotechnics is doing at least 250-300 shows across the country this year, Clark said. Monday night, a state-of-the-art computerized firing system will launch 2,000 shells into the sky above the UCO campus where they will burst into showers of color. That number includes 700-800 shells for the finale, Clark said.

Clark said this will be the longest-ever show his company has produced in Edmond, and new bells and whistles will be seen in the night sky. The longer finale will stretch the show to nearly a full half-hour, 29 and 1/2 minutes, Clark said.

Bob Meinders, LibertyFest chairman for the car show and fireworks display, said it will be a high-quality show seen by tens of thousands of people. He encouraged viewers to arrive early, bring blankets and lawn chairs and plenty of liquid to help battle the heat.

In recent years the total amount spent on the show has ranged from $30,000-$40,000. LibertyFest received a big boost when it was selected by CNN and USA Today as one of the top 10 July 4 destinations.

Greyson Chance: I Needed Something To Get Me Back On My Feet

Greyson Chance steps out at the premiere of Cars 2 held at the El Capitan Theatre on Saturday evening (June 18) in Hollywood.

The 13-year-old musician just recently debuted the cover for his upcoming album, Hold On ‘Til The Night, out August 2nd, plus a few track names.

Greyson told the Examiner, “Hold on ‘Til the Night is actually one of the songs from the record, so it’s a title song. When I was in the studio writing this record, I was very, something wasn’t right that day. I was very sad, I was heartbroken, I was insecure about how this song was going to happen, I was missing my friends.”

He continued, “So I went into the studio and I told myself that day I need to write a record that is going to get me back up on my feet because as an artist and as my duty to my fans I need to be able to gain courage. I wrote that record from gaining courage and when I was writing it I could just picture myself and my fans, because the chorus is: (sings) ‘Hold onto the night get out of your own way’. So it’s like saying don’t be afraid, gain courage, take a risk. And when I was writing the record I was imaging me and my fans just running towards this light, this endless light and we were just running and we were gaining courage.”
