Rapper Bizzy Crook knew that when he wanted to use a sample for his track "This Is Me," he had to find a way to weave in his favorite song from his favorite Disney movie. Which means "Camp Rock" star Demi Lovato makes a cameo on the track. The MC sampled the uplifting "This Is Me" because he really connected to its message of self-acceptance.
"When I was a kid I left the city where I grew up at, and I moved and it was hard for me to adjust. I didn’t have too many friends; I hung around by myself…then I watched the movie and that song really related to me," he explained of the tune.
While thematically it may work for his track, it does seem a bit odd to have the teen starlet on a rap song. "A lot of people are really surprised to see someone like Demi Lovato on that specific song. A lot of people when they listened to it they're like, 'Wow, it's still a really good song,' even if it's not something they would normally listen to," he explained of the sample from the hit Disney flick.
"As funny as it sounds, I actually watch a lot of the Disney movies. 'Camp Rock' was probably one of my favorite movies," he dished. "I actually really, really, really like that song, so I just called my in-house producer one day…it sounded like something completely different."
